WE DID IT!! We woke up at 8am drove out to Chestermere Lake and waited until the realter showed up at 9:30 and got the #1 ticket to be the first to pick a home in the new subdivision they are building in. We went back at noon when they opened and there was over 40 numbers given out and we were #1 baby!!
Im now the owner of a 1814sqft 2 story house in Chestermere Lake just outside of Calgary, they break ground in June and posession is supposed to be in early spring 2007, a long wait but is gonna be worth it

Base price on the house and lot with gst and all that crap is $281,500....toss in hardwood and some other uprades and we're around $290,000
The crazy thing is, that this was the only lot and well 3 others in Chestermere that we found under $85,000 in the last 2 months of house hunting!
Its a corner lot thats 60' x 115ft and the house is 1814sqft.... here is a picture of the prints.

Good for you dude. Sounds like a nice place. I'd say that's 900 sq. ft. up and down by looking at the floor plan.

Wow, $290k for a house on a lot OUTSIDE of Calgary? Frick, sounds like prices are getting as stupid as they are here. Finding a new house on a lot here isn't possible unless you look in Chilliwack, or possibly Mission.
