Um, ya there is. It's called kung fu. Every defense is an attack, & every attack is a defense...or some sh*t like that.

This thread is funny.

Believe it or not, but that is a pretty common occurrence around here. Most farmers don't bother to even sedate or give their dogs pain killers for it. They just grab a pair of pliers and pull them out & go about their businesss like nothing even happened. If these stupid farmers only knew that if not removed properly, the quills can work their way into the lungs, heart, etc, if not removed fully (by design). Oh, & there are a lot of pu**ies in nature that would rather run than defend themselves.

"The porcupine uses its quills for defense. The porcupine cannot shoot its quills. When a predator approaches, the porcupine will turn its back, raise the quills and lash out at the threat with its tail. If the porcupine hits an animal with its quills, the quills become embedded in the animal. Body heat makes the barbs expand and they become even more deeply embedded in the animal's skin. If an animal is hit in a vital place it may die. The porcupine is not an aggressive animal. It will only attack if it is threatened."

Taken from Here....
Ah but see it DOES Attack lol Regardless of the technicallity this animal WILL attack if it feels the need.
