1965 Pontiac Parisenne Convertable.

In the process of being restored:

Full frame off, frame was dipped, every suspension component blasted and coated, all rubber/shocks/springs are new. Body was professionally done off the car, no bondo, all primed, undercar and engine bay sprayed. Fully rebuilt engine, not original to the car but proper year, again professionally done. Tranny, gas tank, etc, all replaced. Car currently runs (kind of). New tires, original wheels. New hydrolics for the top, but no top. Interior is not in the car, this is more or less where the resto stopped. Interior is not bad, but doesn't do justice to the resto job that's been done so far. Car is intact, but in lots of boxes, probably in no particular order. Most of the chrome has been redone.

So what it needs is:

Paint
Ragtop
Wiring
Interior/chrome reassembly

Could use a new interior.

Price is $2500

Guy has put at least $25000 into it, not including buying the original car, and a parts car.

I've got a place to store/work on it for free, and I've got the money kicking around to do it.

Should I buy it?

Not exactly my bag but it sounds like whoever buys it will be getting a pretty killer deal...

It's a killer deal, but it will take another 4 grand easily without touching the interior. I don't really know what repro seats would be for this, I think the door panels are still in good shape.

6-8 grand to finish it, so say 10 grand, plus a lot of my own time. Car will be worth maybe 15-20g's finished.

I'm really tempted, but I'm going away for 3 months Sunday and have to decide ASAP.

^ its your call but understand that there is a 100% chance the car is missing parts if its been dis-assembled. Even if everything was carefully stored.. there is still a VERY good chance that there are parts missing. When the car has been stripped.. and your buying it in pieces.. stuff goes missing in the buying/moving/dis-assemblying process. Chasing around for parts is a disaster... count on spending many nights on ebay looking for that missing hinge or rad support.
Not trying to be pessimistic but A friends dad brought a 1943 Cadillac in the same condition.. and thats what he went through for some time.

About that $25k invested.. ask for reciepts.. thats a LOT of cash for a project that has a bad interior and is still far from completion. People usually inflate that number LOTS to promote a sale. Some people do the work themselves and claim the work as being done as "proffessional" whereas a $25k pricetag would be claimed as 'right' (in the event that it was done "professionally") IN reality there may have only been $2000 invested of ACTUAL cash.

there are lots of things to consider. If I were you I'd find a hot rod builder.. that has LOTS of projects under his belt.. and ask him to come with you when you inspecting it. Since you've probably never done this before.

But for $2500.. a Drop top Parisenne is a pretty steller deal I'm guessing.

Cheers.

A friend of mine had the same car. He made it into a lowrider with hydraulics, put a decent little system in it & had it painted with an awesome pearl paint. In fact, the car looked so good that it was in a Snoop Dog video that was filmed in Vancouver. Snoop liked the car so much, he told his people to buy it from my friend & it's now the Lakers lowrider that you may have seen in his other videos.
I would definitely consider the car & if you get it, I would hope to see it around. It'll bring back memories for me!

I think it's a good deal.

I'd buy it if...

-You have a decent sized garage to work on it.
-You've got the money to not only buy it but spend money on it.
-Most importantly... Time

I would have lots more projects in my life but I just don't have the time.

Time is the biggest factor IMO.

BTW I had a 1975 pontiac Parisenne hard top.
Different body style and such but an awsome car.

The stuff he's done already is a huge time and money consumer so the price is good. The cost though to restore an old cars interior can be frightening. But places like Year1, OPG and The Paddock usually have all the little bits and pieces.

I say if you have the time, money, motivation and space then do it. To keep costs down I would suggest resto-modding it.
