Car stereo insurance in AB...anyone know the facts?

Hey folks...

I gotta renew my insurance soon, and i'm lookin at adding about 3k to the stereo putting up to worth around 5k or so total. More than i'd like to lose to some frickin thieves.

I know i've asked my old insurance company like 5 times what car stereo insurance was worth and i know it was kinda expensive, but can't remember how it worked for hte life of me. Furthermore i'm not sure i'll be able to talk to my current insurance company anytime soon, unlikely before i get to renew my 6mo term.

So...any of you folks know?

it may depend on the insurance company, but i am thru ING and i have a seperate policy for my stereo and on my one form here it says: increase sound and electronic equipment ($4461) now if i remeber correctly it was maybe $200 at the very most,,more likely around $150/yr for this extra coverage. i am still looking for the original policy form. all i had to do was give them serial numbers, and i took photos to give to them and it was that easy. i recommend ING to anyone with a more than average vehicle,,,they were the only ones that would insure my truck because it was "altered". i guess being a lowrider is a factor now. they made me get an appraisal done for them, and now it is insured with full coverage and for replacement value,,,30g's,,plus the seperate stereo coverage,,,and i have my 2003 jimmy insured with full coverage,,and my g/f's car with pl/pd and i pay $164.20/month. that is pretty cheap to me.

Hmmm interesting. Coulda swore they (ING) at the time told me it was way way more expensive. Then they were upset or told me that things that things had to bolted down to the vehicle (like subs n amps - i just velcro as i don't like screwing holes in my floor)

maybe i'll check with my current guy if i get time and see whats what.

A lot of the times it's better to get home owners ins. and have that cover the contents of your car as well... mine costs about 12 bucks a month, and everything in my house is covered, as well as everything in my car, plus it gives me 1 million in liability ins. as well...

regards, Mark
