Changing a thermostat?
#1
Any of you dirty Canadians know where I can find directions to changing the thermostat on my 96' Camaro? I know that changing one isn't hard, I've just never done it before. And I suppose I could have scoured the net for directions, but I wasn't sure where to look. And I know a lot of you guys go to car sites etc... Any links would be greatly appreciated!

Gee thank you so much. I guess I was more looking for, where it is located, what needs to come off, what else is involved? Yeah I could learn as I go, I'd just prefer to know what I am looking for and doing before I go outside and get under the hood and just randomly poke around.

Unless your Camaro is different than any car I have ever owned or changed a t'stat on:
Follow the upper radiator hose (the big fat one) back to the block. It will attach to a fitting that is bolted to the manifold with most likely 2 bolts. The thermostat is in there. Take off the hose (have a catchpan under the car cuz it may flow a bit) and then unbolt the housing.
Scrape off the old gasket from the manifold and/or housing, simply lift out the T'stat and replace it.
**make sure you do not install the new thermostat upside down**.
Bolt the housing back on, put the hose back on, top up the coolant, run the car for 10-20mins and look for leaks/overheating.
