x-cess cargo!!! They always have a 200-or-less HT setup in there.

I personally have a pair of DJ speakers/ Bass bins with horns hooked up to an old-school pioneer amp and receiver.

Each bass bin has a 15" sub and a horn. They absolutely destroy any HT system I have heard, except in the listening rooms at the higher end audio stores.

I got them when I was into DJ'ing. They only cost me like 150 bucks for both. I imagine they arent TOO hard to come by in the buy and sell or what have you.

But maybe you want the more 'directional' sound deals.

I would buy used from www.audiogon.com . A lot of people start small and move up quickly so you get a just broken in system for 50% of retail.

For speakers just buy 3 pairs of the same speaker like the Atom(Paradigm) or similar great sounding monitors.

Cheap subs are worthless so don't bother you'll just get boomy muddy bass.

For integrated receivers I had great luck with Marantz and Denon before I went with separates.

You do realize if you do this you'll be on the road to spending 20,000 $ to get where you want to be eh?

I agree with everything, except the FS part...

I like the inexpensive JVC receivers -- Kenwood are good too. I would buy a $200-$300 dollar pair of book shelves. "miniture" speakers suck...period
