I like my little Labtec's, not sure how big you want to go though. Good luck.

From my experience you can't beat the Logitech Z-560's for the price. at canadacomputer.ca you can get them for 199.99 and the sound is insane. 400 watts of THX certified sound. Check em out:

wife just got these
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm?pa...2&languageid=1
and they rock enough bass from the sub to make things rattle on the shelves
amp on the back is like 3 inches thick and like 2x2 ft it has a seperate control for all the speakers incuding volume
impressive unit
as in the altec it uses 1 inch tweeters as the full range drivers i heard them and they have alot to be desired

Personally, when I heard the logitech Z-560's I didn't like them. The midrange was too tubby, and since there was no tweeter to be found, the highs weren't all that great, and the midbass was lacking. Although they aren't that great for music They would be great for movies and games.
For music surprisingly enough the best computer speakers I've auditioned were the relatively low priced Altec ATP3's, the ones with the downfiring midrange and two tweeters. Too bad they don't make the 4.1 set (ATP5) anymore.
The other altec set with only two 1" drivers per sattelite sound like poo. Whoever came up with the idea of using 1" drivers for full range sound is teh chadxton.
