I don't understand a word you just said so I will do this.

My dad just got a speeding ticket and it turned out the plates were expired on his car. The cop said if he got his tags updated he'd kill the ticket in general. I guess it depends on the cop you get too.

You're too much. Yes, there are bad cops out there, however there are a lot of good ones. I'd say RCMP, and most other Canadian police forces are within the top 5% of all in the world. Some people need to learn how the rest of the world runs before they spout off about how bad we have things.

Anyways, in BC I've never heard of insurance premiums for speeding tickets, you just pay your points (If you have 6 or more in a year) and be on your way. Premiums come from at fault accidents. I have a buddy that gets at least 4 tickets every year, usually for at least 30 over on each, and he's never had his insurance go up from them.

From what I've seen, public (BC Style) insurnace screws everyone over, and private insurance screws over anyone that makes even the slighest mistake. It's ridiculous that speeding tickets effect insurance so much in a private system since it's been shown again and again that there is little correlation between speeding and accident rates. Aggressive driving, and poor skill cause far more accidents than going with the flow 15kph over the speed limit.

^^Saskatchewan public insurance is the best car insurance that I have ever experienced. I have had 3 claims, and there was never any problems with any of them. I was never screwed over. They have a great system. I paid the top insurance rate of about 800-1400 depending on what type of vehicle I drove, and that never went up because of accidents or tickets. However, they have a point system which gives safe drivers a discount. So instead of punishing bad driving, along with punishing young drivers, they reward good drivers with I think 20% discounts.

^^^ To me it sounds like it is only a matter of time before the system works you. How many of those accidents were you deemed at fault for? If you are not at fault, then they would not affect your premiums. Points and insurance differ from province to province, what we have here will be different than what you have there.

Well i called points today. They told me they can't help me out at all. They said pretty much that im screwed because if i do the not guilty option i run a high chance of getting the ticket put back up to 73 instead of 65 adn getting 3 points. Can't really lie cuz i did speed.

HOw screwed am I in terms of insurance? How high are my rates gonna go ? 19yrs old with class G lisence. Im primary driver on my car under dads name.

I asked some friends who have been in ticket situations they said if no points your safe and just pay it. But im not sure so im asking here.
yeah... life is hard... here that fine would have been about $110 (been a while since I've had one, I assume as with most things this has gone up) plus points...
