Exclamation

So as you remember sometime back I talked of getting a dishwasher...well..I did...a used one..$25 Bargin Finder special...doesnt work too bad....

Anyway......Story at hand here....

I'm doing a load of dishes this afternoon and suddenly I smell what smells like a campfire.Very odd.Never smell anything like that around here...

So I go looking around the house trying to figure whats burning..as I get closer to the dishwasher,it gets stronger.Didnt smell like any electrical burning I'd ever experienced.

Shut off the washer, play with the dial a bit..seems fine...open the washer..a cloud of smoke poofs out...pull the trays out...all seems fine....

As I'm about to push the lower tray back in I spot something.....

THIS!!(this after the embers had died out!!)

It had fallen out of the rack and onto the heating element in the bottom....

Word of advise....Never leave a dishwasher unattended....

Aaron.. an FYI... don't put wooden utensils in the dishwasher. It destroys the wood and ruins the utensil.

Wash them by hand and try not to soak them for too long

gives a new meaning to the word flamer. That spoon could have caused a nasty accident.

Yeah, Don't soak any utensils with wood for long. It's no fun. specially when the knives you use have wooden handles. gives you more reason to be careful.

Yep, fire extinguisher's a good idea.
Kinda like an airbag. You don't notice it until you really need it.

My buddy and I made a smoke house with an old dishwasher......worked really good too.....you do exactly what you did....put wet wood on the element and all your meat in the rack....obviously don't hook up the water, turn on the dishwasher....it won't get hot enough to start a fire, and if it does you loose some meat and minus a dishwasher....oh well......that thing worked good man, I'm tellin ya, you western folk have tons of fooding just walking around out there, shoot some, and make a smoke house, you'll never be happier.
