He was the originator of style and one hell of a rider.

How many of us will be lucky? enough to die doing what we loved?

Tis a sad day

Kelly was the King Man! I had all the Burton Videos back in the day... he Rawks!!! and will be missed. I can't even remember how many times I've been yelled at by course evaluators for riding with my back knee tightly tucked against the front one "You've been riding a long time haven't you? Craig Kelly Style" Apparently you're not supposed to ride like that anymore, now it'll be an hommage.

I even had the good old Craig Kelly Mystery Air back in '89, great board

(I think I had the '92 or '93 model too).

Nope, course evaluaters are looking for knees out.

My level one instructor called it "flashlighting" i think... back knee points in the direction you're turning, light the way with the light attached to your back knee.

Some haunting lines on Warren Miller TV tonight - both ridden and spoken by Craig.

Check it out if you have sportsnet, it should be on again later

CASI course evaluators (Canadian Assoc. of Snowboard Instructors)

When I took my level I (10 yrs ago)the knee tuck was fine.
When I took my level II (7 yrs ago) I got in trouble for letting my rear hand fall behind my rear foot (was told to hold on to my jacket.
When I took my Freestyle Coaching Level I (3 yrs ago)and in all my recent PDP's I've been told to keep my rear hand over my tail (especially for freestyle) and keep my knees out! This is probably why we see so many duck footed riders. I saw a board at Blue on friday that was set up with both feet at least 20 degrees duck. I ride my Floater 159 at 6 deg. rear and 12 deg. front... my Floater 167 is 9 deg. rear and 18 deg. front.
