Unhappy

So,I'm going to the bank this morning before work and to get to the bank I wanted LEGALLY(w/o crossing any solid lines)I take the scenic way to come out at a set of lights....but I missed the street I wanted by 2 blocks..oh well!

I come up to the intersection(2 way stop..major roadway going through(for those in Calgary,Centre St.N and 9 ave NW)I come to a complete stop.Traffic galore...I must have sat there 10 mins waiting. Finally traffic clears...I check left...I check right...left...right...left...right....inching my way in.When I confirm all is clear,I begin to accelerate. As I begin the left turn to head north on Centre,I turned my head slightly to confirm I was clear.BOOM!!as I am turning my head back...I hit someone!! My best guess is he was hanging from a crane above me and was dropped at just the right time, because there's no way in hell he was coming down the street.

Anyway,I broadsided a 90 Tempo(and another one bites the dust!)driven by the little oriental fella. It amazed me that he didnt yell at me,he cause camotion or anything. The impact on the RR door was enough to cave the bottom in and bring the top out.The metal around the wheel well was turned in and caught on the tire.I went to a closeby garage and borrowed some pry bars to try and get him going again, but no luck.He got towed.

My car is still mobile with some mostly cosmetic damage, but the peices damaged maybe hard to find because of the colour combo of the car...oh well...just glad to have wheels still!Rob VO and I will be doing an assement of it all tommorow night and I'll take some pics to post as well.I figure tops a couple hundred dollars at Pick N Pull and a day of crash course body work, and she'll be good as..err...she was...hehe...

Oh yeah...and a cop showed up too! $115 fine later! He explained that because of my co-operation and willingness to help the fella out as much as I could/did, he dropped from "Failure to give right of way"=$350 fine to "Failure to merge safely"=$115 ..Still not happy about it but hey...right now that $200+ svaings is welcome all things considered.

Because I will be fixing my own car,I wont be having to come up with a deductable( ).My insurance will only go up 10%(works out to about probably $5/mth more).

All things considered,as it sits so far,I've gotten away pretty lucky on this...lets hope sticks(knock on wood)! And another victory for Chevy in the GM vs Ford Battle!

So it begins....

8:30 am I get a call from the guys "brother" asking for a copy of my police report. He asked if he could take the original with him to get copies made.I said no.He says "Well,I'm on my way over for a copy".So I run to 7-11 and get a copy made.He shows up at about 9am driving one of those fancy Acura SUV's.Dude I hit is with as well.So I give him the copy.He asks if its ok to read it..sure..why not?So he reads it and starts in..."This not saying you at fault!!!"My reply was "No...It says what happened in the accident from my point of veiw"
"How do you not see a big car?"(A Tempo is a big car?)
"I don't know..you tell me because I would like to know too!"
"Car doesn't just appear out of thin air!"
"Thats what it seemed like to me in this case to me"
"Did you get a ticket?"
"Yes I did."
"Ok."
and then walked away,no thank you's or anything.

I now have a bad feeling in my gut.

Here's some pics I snapped this morning

?????????????

what kind of comment is that?

If it had happened to you, you'd probably have 5 lawyers and two private investigators on the scene by the end of the day. 5 days? oh, I see......... 'cause it's going to take the Asian guy 5 days to find a translator, right? <----- my example of assuming too much. Not nice when shoe's on the other foot.

BTW, the word oriental is used to describe rugs and objects. The word Asian is used to describe people. I don't call people of European descent, occidentals....... Caucasian.

That's OK, man. We all do stuff because we don't know any better. Not meant to be a Flame Starter............ just pointing it out. Staying politically correct is difficult at the best of times.

Now, making fun of Americans........ that's like our God given right........ j/k.

Hey Aaron that's not half as bad as I thought it would be... I'm guessing the tempo was blue.lol.

But you didn't take pics of the best part, you know what I'm talkin' about.hehehe

BTW MR. mugen1, take it easy on pointing the finger at ppl who you think are being racist, because I don't remember Sassmaster saying anything about a "translator". Looks like you are tring to put words in this mouth to make his comment into something its not, so save your breath.

Mugen1: actually, I'm speaking from personal experience and the experience of friends. I was involved in an accident on saturday, no injuries, myself, and the person who I hit were both fine at the scene, and he (a young man of asian decent) even turned down any offer of medical help or checkup. yesterday I got a call from my insurance that he's suing for injuries. I've talked to at least 5 people who have had the same thing happen, no injuries at the scene, but days and days later, there's a lawyer involved, but it only seems to happen when the "victim" is of asian decent.

I've been in an accident before, and when I got to a doctor 2 days later I was told that after 24 hours, if nothing has shown up, then the only reasonable diagnosis is either faking it, or minor bruising. that was the doctor's experience and conclusion.

It was not meant as an offence against all asian people, but it has been a pattern in this area. I have no problem with asian people, and hang out with them on a regular basis, but some times things happen.

perhaps a touch less sensitivity to people saying things about other people of your race.

Edit:

Oh, and by the way, I don't give a rat's **** about being politically correct.
