Year 2007 passports are mandatory. I wasn't born in Canada so I already need / have a passport.

Well, first off people don't seem to realize that US Customs and Canada Customs (CBSA) are seperate entities.

if they've found that you've tried to sneak things in before, they'll have it in their computer, no question. If they check, you'll probly get searched, going in, and coming home.
That's wrong. Canada has no access to US records and vice versa unless they resulted in a criminal conviction that's still on your record. Also, You're not going to get searched every trip for a minor evasion of taxes from a few years ago.

Declare everything, have a receipt for everything you buy. Be honest with them and be courteous to them as well. This to is also noted in your file for the next time.
Umm no, this isn't high school, no record of you being a nice guy is kept. Overall it's good advice, but Customs officers have better things to do than make an entry about everyone that crosses.

[quote]if you've been in **** before you ARE on their list and they are probably going to give you the third degree, always better to be honest[quote]

If you're not doing anything wrong this time you're not going to get "the third degree."

#1 GET A PASSPORT....this is pretty much a have to have now.
Totally wrong for crossing at a land border. Proof of citizenship is what you need, birth cert and a piece of govt issued photo ID is fine.

Year 2007 passports are mandatory. I wasn't born in Canada so I already need / have a passport.
That's still up in the air, it's probably going to change for Canadians. And, it's only going to the USA, Canada has no plans for a reciprocal requirement.

You said you have really dark tint, I'd just have all the windows rolled down as u are making your way up there.

Also, if you have a solid story it seems to work. They will usually ask you what you did etc, just make sure you got ur story down and everything should be alright.

Good luck,

Lets see here.... I cross the border into the US, shop till I drop and it is the US customs that give me the gears on the way back....nope, they get to grill me coming into the country. On the way back it is CANADA CUSTOMS with full records of you, your vehicle and full access to CPIC and / or PIRS where yes, every little detail about you and any run in with the police, Canada Customs etc. has been noted. So go on thinking that the little tax evation thingy from a couple of years back is irrelevant. Remember the paperwork that you signed way back when you were caught? Where do you think it is now....oh yeah, that's right... it shows on Mr. Canada Customs computer screen when he queries your name if asked or maybe is tied to your license plate as well... once a offender, hmmm, they usually offend again in cases like this.

Do the right and legal thing dude, and any hassle that comes your way will probably not materialize into anything at all.
