I used to work at Slaveway aka safeway for 16 years... So i know how ya feel. All i can say is try to have fun at work, and make the day go by faster. Dont let the job get ya down, cuase it makes you feel like poop and ull hate the job. I used to do stupid things to make life bettter, usually pissed off management doin it tho. Some of the things i used to do was, change my name tag ( Ben Dover ) most customers got a chuckle out of that name. Crazy glue stuff together like the bosses phone, just need a few drops so the phone stays all together. That royally pissed the manager off, but all the assistant managers got a laugh out of it. I used to help alot of good looking women out, killed time, semi flirted with them and i didnt do work while showing them to a item. If your really good to talking to peeps you can kill lots of time doin this by also helping the customer outside. remember the customer is always right. Even if its 2 bags of groceries ask if they need a help out. If they no its okay, say you know it sure be nice to get outside and get some fresh air. Amazingly most people will say sure ill have a hand out. I could tell ya more things but im tired... But hopefully my .02 cents helps

Put yourself in the managers shoes, he is calling you to come in to work and you say no as you have no ride. There are cabs, buses, bikes and walking available to you and you did not exercise one of these options at all. The manager should not have said what he did not doubt. If you want to be a manager one day and earn the $ that they do, you will also have to put up with the BS given out by employees just like you.

About the Zebra outfit, think of this, are you paid to run and find the manager and tell him there is a zebra dude in the store? What a colossal waste of time that is. Look at that comment from the managers perspective instead of your perspective. You need to gain some respect for your employers. Realize that they have set ways of doing things and that their way is the proper way. Learn from what mistakes you have made.

All the people that work at various Superstores for example that are younger all say the same sorts of things that you do. They are the people that don't look at the other side of the coin. The other side of the coin has people working there making huge $ in the produce or meat dept., they have a full benefit package as well. Chances are that they made the choice to play by the rules as set forth my management instead of going against them or whining about it.

You are employed to work, not run around and tell people that there is a zebra in the store, superglue phones etc. Do your job, do it properly and on time, show up when asked and make the proper effort to get there as well. It pisses me off to no end that people can't get to work because they are just plain lazy. Don't be this person. Sit down with your manager and ask him / her how you can improve your work ethics. Ask them how you can increase your job description instead of being a lacky that they know is going to leave because when the going gets tough, they run. Don't be a runner, stick it out, pay attention and go forward. Superstore can be a great place to work, it all depends on you.

You took my comments out of context, I was not inferring that were a slack employee at all. Continue to do the good work that you do and at some point in time a good manager will notice this.

Not everyone has the money for public transportation these days

It's halloween omg 30 seconds to joke if that big deal.

IMO you make your job what it is. These days I dunno how but I seem to be the only one that likes my job at BK. I made a lot of my friends who work there right now stay longer than they did because they just plain had lots of fun on my shifts. Dunno why, dunno how. You have to make your job fun/what it is. Some jobs just plain suck. The only thing I hate about my job is it doesn't pay me enough. I just got a raise but there's only so high you can go in this job and it sucks. The one job I enjoy and I get crappy pay, but stick it out and pick up the extra shifts to make up for it and I'm fine.

And Ben some ppl are just plain ******** man.
