If you had to choose between the following two stereo's, which would you choose?

SONY PANASONIC

Which one and why

Basic difference between them thats in what I'm looking for is 20 watts & 50 bucks. Sony is $300, 400watt system. (I've had a chance to hear this one in action too) Panasonic is $350 with 420 watts. Both are MP3 Compatible.

Seeing as I'm moving out in the very near future I want a nice stereo that can also hook up to a tv, yes I'm aware it probably contradicts my thread on making my own stereo, but I figure in the end its gonna cost the same amount of money and if I were to get a car later down the road I have to take all taht apart and put the gear in the car. So I'm tryin to keep 2 & 2 separate if possible.

Basically want a stereo that has a sub, is 400+watts 500 would be AWESOME lol Plays Mp3's remote is a plus, and looks cool. Not an ugly piece of junk.

Those wattage ratings are, at best, as optimistic as a head-unit rating.
Cause in the end that could cost more than $1,000 for something really good, when you go that route you tend to go for the really expensive good stuff (when your me).

And That's not somethin I want until I'm settled in with someone and when it comes down to that I'll have a stereo tv system and then the stereo audio separate.

Stereo is only goin in an apartment and/or bedroom. As of right now its just roommates and I'm still in school for at least another half a year.

You will be happier with a dedecated home theatre reciever dvd player, etc than a "shelf system". My sister has a Sony shelf system and its comparable to the ones you posted, and its only so-so.

Home theatre recievers aren't also that expensive ($200 starting at Futureshop for a decent one) and will give you alot more performance for your buck versus a shalf system.

Do it once and do it right.

I agree with Dave and if you're on a budget try to piece it together by checking the local pawn shops every so often until something pops up.
