I use a Sony DSC-P92 Cybershot.
Pics come out incredible and most shots are made in auto mode. The special settings are very easy to switch to and work very well also.

Easy scroll menu and easy to remember options.
Software very good also.

My brother in law takes much more photos than I do and uses the Rebel. He likes my Sony better.

I use a Pentax Optio33LF.

It retails at $299, 3.2mp, 3xOptical Zoom, 16mb Internal w/SD expansion slot, 2xAA batteries, night shot, macro, landscape, panorama, surf, snow, sunset shooting modes, USB and software and the kicker for me..... a flip out adjustable view screen like a camcorder. I bought a rechargeable AA kit which came with 4 2300mHa AA batteries, 1.5hr charger with a home and car adapter and bought an extra 4 pack of rechargeable batteries and a neoprene Roots camera bag that fits everything. Total price around $350 plus tax.

I have 4 complete sets of batteries and have since added 2 128mb SD cards and will most likely buy a 512mb before the year is up.

The flip out screen really lets you take pictures from a different perspective, ie...overhead shots, ground shots plus pictures with you in it because you can flip the screen around for self portraits.

Oh yeah, the picture quality is top notch. I use some of my pics for desktop backgrounds at work and at home all the time.

the thing that i really like about the canon powershot a series aside from the a80 is that they all have a protective plastic cover over the lcd. alot of the other cameras out there dont have a cover on the lcd so its just bare. i've seen it happen to a couple of expensive cameras people do the fumble the camera takes a dive and bye bye lcd. that and canon uses aa batteries none of that stupid proprietary battery business so if you travelling you can get batteries anywhere. and i know alot of people dont like it but i dig that they use compact flash, it just seems like a much more robust media platform compared to alot of the others out there and you can get them pretty much everywhere.

the a80's display rotates almost 360 degrees so you can have the display so it is not exposed to abuse
