Hehehe...yup they should just get a picture of one

I see you are a PBT lover... good on you. I feel very badly for the state of affairs for PBT at the moment due to bad owners. Golden retriever bite more often than PBT's but we never hear about that on the news now do we? I adopted a PBT to a nice home a few years ago after he sat in a shelter for 9 mon He was a lovely tuxedoed boy who just needed a chance out of the shelter to show his true bum-wiggly gentle self. He was in foster with us for nearly 6mon and the sketchy people wanting to adopt him due to his breed was disgusting. It took a long time to weed out all the bad guys and find him a loving forever home. We made sure he went to a breed experienced home that owned another PBT, a female and they are great friends.

Cheers

great post!!!

giving your dogs the choice is beneficial for both of u. thats amazing!!

i am not protecting anything, i was just using that as an example. i will now consider a dog with long hair. reason the dog is outside is b/c thats the way i had always done it. im not trying to hard the animal nor do i believe that any hard is infact done that way as long as the dog is taken care off.

about the chain......i dont know i never thought about as to WHY chain the dog?? thats just how i did it and seen it done by others. i guess thats something for me to reconsider!! thank u.
it's just that where im from all i saw was guard german sheppard dogs on short chains behind metal bars or in steel cages (prison guard dogs) that act/look like they would eat anything alive if they were let out.

can russian terriers withstand the cold?

Hmmm... you stumped me with that one I had to look it up as it is a rare breed. There are very few reputable breeders it seems. There is some interesting info on this breed but I dunno if it would be happy outdoors as most of the info says they are very much people oriented. Must it be dark in color? Do you have children or children that visit your home? You choice in breed if children are around should be considered and you can usually find the general temperment of a breed in the breed standard info. Black Russians sound like they need to see a groomer for regular trimmings to keep the coat from getting matted up.

My other half is the best, she has taught me everything I know about dogs. If only she shared my interest in car audio, maybe in time. Mind you I just stole her cd player so now she has no tunes.... haha!

Well Yuli thanks for taking the time to respond maturely and honestly. I admit I jumped the gun, as I too have seen many a poor dog forgotten outside. Too many times I hear dogs in my neighbor hood being yelled at to 'SHUT UP'. When all they are doing is crying out for attention.

Some dogs love being inside, some love being outside. All dogs love freindship. That is why we have two dogs. When we are not around they have each other. Granted they are twice the hand full and poop twice as much...but they are much happier together.

There are many breeds that suit your needs, but please consider a dog from the shelter. Many of these dogs are just dying to be someones friend.

Have you considered an Aikta?

This poem sums up why I think some of us became defensive in regards to your posts on this matter:

I wish someone would tell me what it is that I've done wrong.
Why I've had to stay chained up and left alone so long.

They seemed so glad to have me when I came here as a pup.
There were so many things we'd do while I was growing up.

They couldn't wait to train me as a companion and as a friend.
And told me how they'd never fear being left alone again.

The children said they'd feed me and brush me every day.
They'd play with me and walk me if only I could stay.

But now the family "hasn't time"; they often say I shed.
They do not want me in the house, not even to be fed.

The children never walk me. They always say, "Not now!
I wish that I could please them. Won't someone tell me how?

All I had, you see, was love. I wish they would explain.
Why they said they wanted me, then left me on a chain.

i am considering a dog from the shelter actually, i was checking into that all day yestarday. most shelter or humane society dogs around here are ex fighting dogs, i dont really want one of those. my other choice is a shelter rottweiller but they are over a year old so i dont know how well it would be able to adopt.
