screwdriver through the surround...just as I was thinking...don't put the srewdriver though the surround! Luckily, the mid had an aluminum cone and the screwdriver glanced off off it, otherwise the cone would have had a nice hole too.

My first system (ported 12" with 1500W), the sub tried a tinsel, so I switched it out, but before I got a new sub I let someone borrow the amp for a week. When I got it back, I hooked it up, and made sure that it was wired properly, I don't think I would have screwed up two different colored 1 gauge wires, but as soon as I turned the keys it started a smoke show in my car. I turned the keys back and nothing, so I paniced, turned around and kicked off the wires. The amp melted my shoe and seat a little. There was so much smoke that I couldn't see out of the window. It smelled so bad. The person who borrowed my amp gave me a pocket bike in return. The next week my car was stolen.

I'm not sure what happened, but I'm glad it did because I would have lost my amp and RE XXX (rather than an APX).

The lesson learned was don't lend your stuff to an idiot, reference your wiring with a diagram if you need it, and for F sakes have an alarm.

lol Im pretty sure everyone has done the drill through the surround thing.. I did it to a Pyle 12" PA Woofer, luckily never demolished a car speaker.

Heres a dumb one for the record...Couple months back i had just finished a complete install. 10 beers in and around 2:30 in the morning we had just hooked up the battery and went into the car to give it a test. We start the car (drove it outside) and the deck didnt power on. So we disconnect the battery and pull the deck out making sure that the wires were correct and sure enough they were. So we checked the fuses. Fuses all good. Get out the multimeters and stuff. Tests show all good. We connect the battery and go back into the car. Same thing. What the F^&% we are thinkn. We have tried everything. Why isn"t the deck turning on when the car starts. And then bam. It hits us............IT HELPS TO THE HIT THE POWER BUTTON ON THE DECK.....talk about a 2 second job that turned into 5 more beers and goin to bed an hr later....Normaly a deck will power on once the keys turned but when the battery is disconnected they go back to reset and u have to manually hit once then it remembers it. What a day..

One of the guys I used to work with was drilling a hole thru the firewall for a power cable. He didn't look in the engine compartment first and drilled right into an a/c line. Needless to say the shop filled up with freon pretty quick.

Didnt disconnect my battery cause my tools were inside, power cable touched ground, almost shorted everything in my system :)
