DVD burners.
Ok so heres my thought process, from what I have read to burn a dual layer disc its painfuly slow like 2x write. So for now I buy a cheap but decent burner and wait for the speeds to increase on DL burners.
List some burners that you guys use.

I like my sony 530 and my liteon 851s
the plextor 708a would be my first chioce ........ it isn't picky at all about media (it'll burn on darn near anything) and it'll do 8x on 4x media
only reason I got the sony over the plextor was the sony matched my shuttle xpc case (it's got to look good you know)

Costco has an 8x AOpen DVD+/-RW Burner for $93 ... Looks like it has a nice software package included as well ...
Not Plextor quality, but surely comparable to the likes of Lite-On, LG, etc.
I have a Lite-On LDW-451S, just for the record ...

I have an LG (the 4x burn one). I use Fuji media and have not had a SINGLE error due to my CD burner (I have a few coasters from accidentally kicking the computer while burning).
I have WELL oave 1000 DVD burned on it. Model numbers is GSA-4040B, I would presume the newer one has 8's in the place of my 4's.
Regarding dual-layer, I am pretty sure no DVD players can read the DVD-ROM burned dual layer discs, but I may be wrong.
