Boomin you are right! Clone is the best way for beginners. Simple and VERY user friendly. There are better options though. They result in minimal if not no loss in quality. It realy isn't as hard as you think.
There are 2 types of DVD discs. The DVD5 and DVD9.
The DVD5 is the 4.7G DVD's are the blank DVD's that you can buy and burn. Some DVD's you buy in the store are in fact DVD5 but they aren't usualy because of the special features and menus.
The DVD9 are the comercial DVD's you buy or rent. They are Dual layered. Essentialy 2 DVD5's on one disc. As of now there are no burners capable of burning this format.
To fit a DVD9 on a DVD5 is realitivly easy. You can get rid of the menus, extras, special features, and other language sound tracks and put JUST the movie on a DVD-R. You can also format the movie so you can burn each layer of the DVD9 on its own DVD-R. I personaly don't need all that mumbo jumbo and just burn the movie.
In order to burn ANY comercial DVD you must decode it and crack the encryption. I use "DVD Decrypter" to do this. You must have at lease 5 GIGS (10G for a DVD9) of hard drive space to do this. It will do its magic and RIP the entire DVD to your hard drive.
Once it is ripped i use a program called "DVD Shrink 3.1" to get rid of all the unwanted crap. Or if you want seperate the DVD9 into 2 DVD5 format DVD's to burn. This program will also interact with NERO so to assure a error free copy is made. It also will burn for you. After this is done you should have a a perfect copy of a DVD with not noticeable loss in quality.
