Well I thought that scams only happen on ebay to dumb people, and so far I am yet to be proven wrong. Just take a look at the email I received today regarding my item for sale.

And a few hour later the email that ebay sent me to "warn" me about this guy.

Dear drew_goring (drew_goring@hotmail.com):

Our records indicate that you recently sent an email to or received an email
from adamson_cole13 through the eBay email system (for example, you may have
sent an email to this member through Ask Seller a Question or received an email
from this member through Contact eBay Member).

Sometimes eBay accounts are used to send email solicitations for transactions
outside of eBay, or to send unrelated questions in hopes that you will respond
so that the other party can obtain your email address. We wanted you to be aware
of the potential fraud risk these solicitations pose and encourage you to be
cautious about the email you received from this member.

Please keep in mind, sales that take place outside of eBay are not eligible for
any eBay or PayPal protective services and you run the risk of losing your money
or your item if you complete these transactions. We would encourage you to
review the eBay pages related to Fraud Protection at the address provided below
for information on steps you can take to ensure that your transactions are
successful:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/tp/isgw-b...ion-steps.html

If you have already sent the item or sent payment for the item, please reply to
this email and we will send you additional information about how to protect
yourself.

Regards,

Trust & Safety Department

What king of idiot would send their item to this guy? I might just see how long I can string this guy along. I think that I'm going to start up a new email account just for this.

Funny..I once advertised a car for sale on a local website and got an almost identical email...I responded...they did too...But a few of us caught on that this was a scam of some sort and so I dropped it...

There have been a lot of those going around. It requires something to do with they send the MO for too much and ask you to send the remainding amount back.

Yeah, I figure they'll put that on me in the next email. I didn't really think that someone would go through all that trouble for just a PS2. I just emailed them my info, so we'll see if they email back

Happens to me alllll the time. Although it's with different users, but basically similar emails. I just write them back and say sorry I don't like being scammed and that's the end of it.

anyone else notice:

1. all the grammatical/spelling errors?
2. Dear Drew was in lower case but the body was in upper case?
3. Africa?

sounds like another Nigerian-type scam.

He actually sent me a fake bidpay email saying that I had a payment on the way, and gave me his address, which was nigeria. But what I don't understand is that he only "sent" me the money that he said he would. No extra. It seems like a lot of effort for just a PS2.
