After much research + discussion on TN (toyota nation) I'm having Eibach Pro Kit springs (1.2" drop quoted for the ones that fit the Cam), and Tokico HP struts installed on my Camry. That combo seems to be the one of choice for Cams. Do you not frequent a Honda / Accura forum where there might be more first hand experience in the choices out there?

Also, from what I've read, sometimes the oem struts don't like to sit with the lowered springs and can cause them to blow fairly quickly. If possible ($$) it's good to change the struts and springs at the same time.

Another piece that will help reduce body roll is an upgraded rear sway bar. Whiteline makes a good one for my Cam and will be the next upgrade. Not sure about your EL...

Good Luck!

Gene

When doing your suspension, you should get both the springs and matching dampners. When I bought my ride the previous owner had just installed the Eibach ProKit with the stock dampners. I noticed that after I purchased the vehicle, the dampning ability of the shocks quickly deteriorated and now its at the point that car bottoms out very frequently. You need to have shocks that are valved for your springs. Some manufactures also offer shocks that are shorter than stock (i.e. - Bilstien) that work with shorter springs.

I recently purchased a set of coilovers from KW suspensions. They are a complete stainless-steel unit and are fully height adjustable. There are going into car next month. KW also has a spring/shock combo available...you may want to check them out. Their made in Germany and are distributed out of BC.

If you like the Eibach gear (and it is good), look for a complete setup.

check out www.clubel.ca

I have h&r sports on my civic sedan, there about 1.8" drop and 1.6 rear. Whats the drop on those sportlines?

As for shocks, you shoulndt need them right away on your sportlines as the spring rate and drop is not that bad, although aftermarket shocks are a good deal.

On toronto civics right now theres a Tokico Illumina group buy for shocks if interested, gotta be a member though.

Not meaning to sidetrack the post - but what about Ground Control coilovers? My new car has like a 5" gap and I was looking to lower it in the next few days but I have been battling between struts and coilovers.

there basically adjustable springs

look them up on ebay or google

you have a perch that a shorter spring sits on and you can adjust the height with a collar on how high or low the spring sits to adjust the height of the ride and for corner weighting.

I would never run the Sportlines on stock dampners. The spring rates are much too high. The Prokit would be similar to the H&R sports. The H&Rs would work real well with Bilstein Sport dampers. Good combo...

Stay away from any collar & sleeve coilover combo. They a total waste of money. The spring rates are so high that the car bounces around everywhere. If you really want coils go with the real deal.

In the end, you really have to ask yourself what you want out of the deal. Lower doesn't not always translate into better handling. If your going for looks then thats another story. I still can't figure out why its cool to be scraping your oil pan while driving down a street.

Koni what?

you cant just say Koni because they have Red and Yellow

Id take the adjustable Yellows over reds.

As for sportlines, id put them against h&r sport there pretty mucht the same.

Not too interested in sportlines, as they will lower the car more than I want to. The only Eibach kit I've been looking at is the pro-kit series. Not looking for anything to scrape the ground, just looking to reduce the wheel well gap a bit, and to stiffen up the suspension a little. I dont want anything too harsh or bouncy.. Based on what I've read, and from what has been said here, I'm guessing aftermarket dampers are a smart way to go as well. I've heard lots of good things about bilstein

anyone have any rough ideas of how much it would cost to have shocks and springs installed?
