My wife is right into it. She is just afraid to turn the volume past 20 in case she blows something up and I get pissed.

My daughter likes it loud, but not sure if she wants to compete with one half of my system, cause the wife gets the other half when my new setup is done.

I have tried and tried to get her to try competing, even buying her a Db Drag membership that never got used.

I would figure she would like the violent shaking effect?

All in all my wife is pretty good about it. She let me get put 4 subs and another amp on the credit card, then let me get a loan for the new goodies.

I agree that not a lot of Women like Car Audio but I also find that all they need is an introduction to it and then they are hooked. My Dad is the one who got me into audio, first it was home audio then I just naturally turned to car audio. I just can't listen to a stock radio. It's pure hell

god, my mom used to hit my and my brother with wooden spoons, i think i'm having a flash back, aaaahhhhh

this is what happened to us. for years the better half used to tell me why the hell are we in this store looking at crap. i'd walk into a store and spend a good part of the day there just looking. so then after i'd put it in my car, then i noticed that everytime i'd get into the car, the bloody radio was turned up all the way(obviously my wife had been listening to it a bit too loud) but now that years have gone down the road(10 years later), she really like it when we win trophies. she polishes them , dusts them occasionally, she installs her own head units, etc. so now she wants to start competing. what can i do, say no? needless to say, she will be competing next year and will probably go to any show and every show we go to. but that' how it all started, years of persistence on my part. took about 2 years of swearing, 3 years of bitching, 3 more of denial, and 2 more of contsant bombardment of car audio, and mags around the house. that's how i made spl bulder's wife a true car audio buff. lol

oh well Alma Gates was quite mature when she started, Great lady. i met her once in Toronto. She was quite inspirational in my spl endevours. i don't think my wife will ever have an impact like Alma, heck i, won't ever have an impact like Alma. But my wife has a impact on me, it does help and it does make me feel good that some believes in me. Helps me to believe in myself,
ok i'll stop writing before i sound too corny.

Don't worry I don't use the wooden spoon. Well not very often anyways. LOL

Seriously though with the whole not many girls in CarAudio, I think you guys will be surprised with how many are going to start popping up . The boys will have a run for their money soon.

BTW it took Jon (my husband) two years of running his own car audio business to convince me. Now I think to myself why didn't I smarten up sooner.

The funny thing is that the word "convince" repeatedly shows up. In almost every post about women in car audio it says something like "It took me X time to convince my wife" or "I didn't think much about it at first but then my husband convinced me" etc. etc. etc.

Why is it that women need convincing? I was in grade 10 the first time that I heard a system with subs. I didn't need any convincing, I was wondering where this stuff had been hiding before. The moment I heard it, I knew it sounded great. My wife is in the process of being "convinced." On our 2nd HU, and 3rd sub and I think she still needs years more of convincing before I have free-reign.
