I would just like to know what exactly 'seeding' means when your download has reached 100% it will sit there with the status 'seeding' and give you the option to 'stop seeding' but what exactly does it mean? I checked the FAQ in the program and didn't find an answer.

Anybody?

So if I were to click stop seeding, it would not affect my download itself? It's 100% done if I click stop seeding it'll disappear from that last but not my hard drive correct?

Usually there's a certain share ratio they like you to uphold, so if you download a song or whatever they usually want you to upload the full thing to at least one person. I don't know exactly who "they" are or how much control they have over your activity, but apparently not uploading at least 1:1 ratio is a bad thing... Iunno... I've cancelled uploads before and it doesn't really affect anything, they just want people to share because that's what keeps torrents going I guess.

My only fear with sharing them is any other access they may have to my system, or slowing my comp down.

Uploading will chew up some of your bandwidth, but you can set upload limits so that the speed rate is like 5k/sec or whatever, and so that only one person can download from you at a time. AFAIK, there's no risk of anyone accessing your system through bit torrents. The client software protects you from that (or at least it should). The only risk is from the stuff you download.

correct

seeding is just a state of uploading. Like if ur downloading/uploading then ur a leecher but if ur just uploading because the file is done, ur a seeder.

agreed.

If I am on a p2p I usually let like 10 people download off me. I'm in no hurry to get my music. It'll get done sooner or later. If nobody let people have access to their files, then nobody could download anything. In which case the p2p program that you want to use is pointless.
