^^^^^ that's exactly what that means. it's just cool to see the effect of the low pressure area behind the plane

There are pictures of the F14 in a turn where the leading edge of the wings breaks the sound barrier and you see the compression wave over the wing
That air show was off the back of an Aircraft Carrier, in international waters so the usual rules for safety (no neighbors, no other airplanes etc) are put aside but notice he didn’t fly over the crowd. It was actually quite safe, not an everyday event but its nice to have a real air show.

That would be soo cool to see...
I remember at the Winnipeg Air Show a few years back they had one of those Stealth planes...
They built it up like it was going to be this amazing show...turned out the thing flew by fast enough I could have ran faster..it sucked..
I'd love to hear sonic boom!!

wonder if those people were wearing ear plugs?
i haven't been around a ton of planes, but at the outdoor hockey game here in edmonton, the heritage classic, between mtl and edm they had the tbirds fly over...and those things were hella loud let me tell you. But then you heard this low rumbling...and an F18 flew over...slowly by itself, and it like shook the whole stadium - it was way louder than all the tbirds put together...hella intense
