what about metallica? Considered by many to be the stones of our generation, and well known for their 8 min songs, and 3 min intro's.

You young whippersnappers you... I haven't heard of a "great" new band since the '90s -- most of the bands now either rip off the 70s or 90s. If I hear another singer with the "constipated" tone (Nickleback, Staind, Metallica, etc, etc, etc) it will be far too soon. Most bands now try to be Pearl Jam, Nirvana, etc -- BORING.

Darn outside voice again...

Along with what dereck was saying, look at bands like rancid, who is a HUGE name in certain circles, and some of their most famous songs are less than 2 mins long.

I to miss the days where songs actually lasted a while...long enough to "feel" it.

And I really miss the guitar solos..

I just started to listen to the metallicas and GnR's.. I was more into rap, R&B,dance pop... whatever mainstream is... man was that stuff ever empty. I can still appreciate some of those songs now..although the recording quality makes it very hard to keep on comming back to listen to them...

But Im defenetly more into older bands that have wicked guitars and kick *** drums from the 90's and older.
