Ask friends if they know if anyone is looking for someone for a field you are interested in. Get word out that you are looking for a job, tell friends, family, etc. Nothing beats an interview when a friend refers you to an employer.

Acquire a trade.

Some will need schooling to get your ticket, some won't.

All are in demand right now.

All will make you good money (except re-bar ).

Just pick one.

Having talked to Haunz, he doesn't have what it takes to make it in a trade. There's really only one job hunting strategy I'd suggest: Grovel!

and get ready to hear "Thank you for your time, we'll call you if we decide to settle for you" a LOT

^ I don't think we've ever talked outside posting on this forum ?!? I know what you mean about the 'we'll call you if we need you' scenario tho....

talking to some guys I know in the last week Ive been home, I guess Im doing alright just having the job I have considering the market in my area....

but so far this week I met a guy who is in upper managment at an engineering firm who was encouraging and seems to be a very good lead to some real work... and also rattlin chains with friends and mostly familly who is in managment in whatever field who still might know somebody....

this weekend Im on reference and prospect hunts... and Im also going hunting for CIMs.... (my buddy coined the term 'cougars in managment' for me )

Just be happy with what you can get,60K is pretty high to be making for someone that just got out of school.

Not saying you should work at Tim Hortons,But factorys are always looking.Hell at westerns(think thats the name) you make $11.00 a hour to put three cherrys on a cake WTF.

i would be there in a flash,if i didn't have this hole opening up a shop thing going on.

Compared to someone that works at wendys that still only makes like $8.00 and has been there for three years and works there azz of thats damn good.

Just saying you really need to lower you standards alot

I would be happy if my shop made 15k a year,**** 60k I would be at the caddy dealership.

^ i don't think you could make $60K there either. and i believe FS is straight commision.

BB is straight salary.... but they seems to have limits for paying out over $32K+ for experienced installers.

From what I hear Install Leads can do over $70k at a busy store with efficient staff. Not bad chedda for a box store requiring no more than a high school diploma.
