Garage Heaters: Forced air propane or keroseen?

Looking at CT this week they have a few heaters on sale, a keroseen model and forced air propane model.
I know propane is relatively cheap for a 20lb refil, how much is keroseen?
any benefits to either one?

I just got one of the kerosene space heaters from Cdn Tire. It was stinky the first couple times I used it. The best advice is to start it outside, it will smoke a bit till the whole wick catches. Once its going and heated up a bit its nearly odourless. The tank holds about 8 liters of kerosene. It will burn through that in about 8 hours. A 9.7 liter jug costs $12 or so.
Don't know anything about the propane models.

I recommend the propane units, had one and it worked great. A 20LB bottle will last you a LOT longer than 8 hours, of course it depends on the size of your heater though .. but unless you have a gigantic construction size heater it will last a long time.

Do yourself a favor and read what you can on the Propane units. The colder it is the harder they are to work with and the larger your tank has to be.
Either way you go make ABSOLUTELY sure you have a good supply of fresh air into the garage. Can't get much work done dead [img]tongue.gif[/img]

Listen to Jon - either fuel will eat up your oxygen super fast. Being dead sucks, I don't recommend it. 
Are you short on electricity or something? A pair of those parabolic radiant heaters would heat a 2car garage quick. One heats mine well but then I'm not in a very cold climate [img]graemlins/dunno.gif[/img]

I made this same decision earlier in the month, I opted for wiring my garage for 220 though, then I went to the local CO-OP and scored an awesome forced air construction heater for teh cheap. 
That sucker warms up my garage in 5 minutes, and it stays warm for 2 hours.
It has a on off sensor too. [img]graemlins/thumb.gif[/img]
Problems with Kerosene, propane etc, is that the fumes burn joor eyes out, been there done that.
I was even offered a wood burning stove also "for free", I said screw that too, I don't want to smell like a campfire!!

I personally would go with Propane.. And take a look around for a wall Furnace.. A friend has a 2 1/2 car bay garage,, and tints car windows as a side hobby during the evening.. It takes maybe 15 minutes to warm the garage up, and with this type you can have a thermostat for it so it doesn't cook ya without having to turn it down.
He may go through 2 tall Green cylinders (similar to oxygen) in a year, and i think they are about 40 bucks to fill... and he keeps the tank on the outside behind the garage.
