A hug from a favourite female friend always helps. I just try to keep myself busy.

"Hug a monkey, hug him tight
hug him 'till you feel alright."
Poko.

Some physical activity can really help the blahs; go for a bike ride or something.

Giving of yourself can make you feel better also. Help a neighbour, a stranger, a volunteer org. when ever you can. The good feeling you get from giving erases any blahs.

I never really get down either, likely because I'm way to optimistic. When I'm stressed however (usually because of gf's) I just hit the gym a bit harder.
That's why I'm 5'10" and 220lbs I guess.

^^^same way except the gym lol, when I was knee deep in **** with bills I just kept thinking it will be better in due time, then think of the fun I can have them then just think of it as "Life On Hold" which will happen to anyone know and then. I just did debt consolidation and man I feel 50X better free'd up like $1200 month now I can start buying things for the future baby etc etc..soo in the end everything got a positive side to it.

I don't suggest drinking to forget problems. That is not healthy.
I have a friend who's been doing it, really badly recently, until last week he almost died from over drinking. Now his nerves are shot to hell, find something else to take your mind off of things.

I'm in the same boat too about living back at home and with almost no work in the region.. Just remember there is always light at the end of the tunnel.
