lol on every catalogue and all over it sayz "Customer satisfaction guarenteed" so I dont understand why they keep asking if they can return something or not get it after they order it (just look at it say no and walk away) lol no matter what SEARS ALWAYZ TAKES IT BACK OR GIVES YOU WHAT YOU WANT thus workin there for 3 years I see it lol, but its funny can't just say yes to them we gotta beat around the bush lol. Talking

SONY Rules all! I have a 27" VEGA Flat screen and I have not seen any other TV with a sharper, brighter,or crisper image! Unless you want to talk like a $6000.00 plasma screen!

Hey, thanks for all of your replies. Unfortunately, Hitachi won't help no matter how much I stomp my feet.

But something has changed:

Now, I turn on the TV, see the pink tint for the first 30 seconds or so, and then it starts to go away. After a good 2 - 3 minutes, the colour is fine. However the convergence is indeed off -- I'll have to get a tech guy in to adjust that -- the 'Magic Focus' that comes with the set is pretty much just a magic light show. But now I'm confused -- the other tech guy said that the red gun was gonzo and quoted 700$.

Anyone care to make a new diagnosis?

I suppose when you bought your tv they gave you an option to purchase extended service and you said "no, i'll buy a new one if breaks" or "if it dosen't break in the first year, it'll never break!"

Not Hitachi's problem anymore or the dealers, it's yours. Why do you think it had only one year warranty to begin with?
Yeah.. that's right. Don't say a word about it. I mean, everything is designed to die 1 day after it goes out of warranty. If it does, then just throw it out. It's only money, right? A new TV every year-and-a-day is reasonable.

It doesn't cost anything to make a couple of calls and tell them that you're not happy. If you're lucky they'll be cool about it and knock a few bucks off the repair price.

At the very worst they aren't going to help you, but you've only lost a couple of minutes out of your day.

Seems like it's worth it to at least try and get something worked out.

Like my dad always says "Those extra couple of bucks are better in your pockets than theirs"
