Home Theatre Woes - TV restarting

Hey Folks,

Came home today and turned on the Shaw's digital music channel 402. I was only getting sound outta one speaker, so I assumed a cable or something came loose. I shut everything down n checked it out. No probs, turned it on thinkin maybe it was just the channel (not sure why I didn't think of that first). All channels are working fine in stereo.

At this point I thought hey, since i'm messing around lets see why the volume on tv is mysteriously lower than what it used to be? I used to listen at volumes 27-31ish and now after resetting my PVR a while back to fix an issue, I'm listening at like 23-28ish. I was try'n to shut the PVR off to check it's menu and see if there were any options and the TV was shutting off on me. I thought it was just the PVR, so I reset all settings to default.

Then I discovered the TV was intermittently turning off and back on. The Power light would just go into blinking which usually means it's sorta warming up, then solid green. TV would be on for like 60s and then it'd reboot again.

I disconnected my TV and tried two different outlets including one which normally runs an AC unit. Same issue. I tried the TV completely seperate from all other components (them off), same issue.

Since then, i've been listening to music channel 402 with no TV and I've noticed maybe once every 10-20minutes the receiver cuts out as if you're switching inputs or something. It's only for a second or two, but it's definitely happened a couple times.

I've checked the powerbar and all looks well there. It seemingly holds 119V the whole time, granted the amps dip from about 3ish to 1.8 when the tv goes from on to off and then back to 3ish when it comes on again.

My AC unit is fine. I've flipped the breaker off and on. Other things like a halogen light on that same breaker seems fine.

Any thoughts on troubleshooting and/or the cause of things or what to do?

TV: Sony KDF55WF655
Receiver: Yamaha 6060
Cable: Shaw HD PVR
Power: Monster Power-bar (can't remember the exact model)

Turns out i'm still within my 5 year warranty from 11/07/2005. I'm not sure if thats Nov 05 or July 11, though I'm leaning towards July 11th 2005. Called the 1800 number and they're sending a rep out to diagnose the tv and see what the options for fixing it are. They seemingly pay for everything including shipping if need be. Ultimately they'll replace it with something equivalent if it comes to that. Sadly, I'm guessing the equivalent won't be anywhere near the $3300 I paid 5 years ago.

I am suddenly grateful that I spent $600 on a 5yr warranty, granted I probably coulda spent about $800-$1000 now a days and gotten an equivalent TV. Unfortunately, I don't have $800-$1000 (or even $100 )

Good work future shop and your warranty program so far!

Can anyone lend any thoughts as to what could be causing this issue with the TV? Is it likely a replacable part or might there be a new TV coming my way? Would they replace it with another Sony TV? I've never done FS warranty or any type of warranty before?
