see now, last time i went to the hospital, was when i nearly took my thumb off, (i split it basically right down the middle with a circular saw blade on a bench grinder, and yes i know that was one of the more retarded never do that again things ive done in my life...) anyway i went to a walk in clinic to have it looked at, the doc took one look and was like "yea u need to see a hand surgeon...." gets on the phone calls the nearest hospital, and tells em im on my way.... i get there, waited maybe 5 minutes in the waiting room, then was told to follow the green line on the floor to the other seating area, i think i waited like 30 minutes there before a doc saw me...

the worst part about the whole experience from a WTF?!?!? perspective, the doc at the walk in clinic couldnt see me for like 30 minutes (i was the only one there) because i didnt have my health care card on me (in my wallet in my jacket, back at work.....)

the best part "would u like something for the pain?" "YES!" "heres 2 tylenol...." me =

but i had fun after they froze me up at the hospital.... i was jokin with the nurses about the worst part about it bein i got blood on my boots..... shes like ummm i dont think thats the worst part.... im like u ever tried to get blood outta leather before?....... point taken....

see now just because u are the only one bleeding in the waiting room, doesnt mean thats all thats goin on, there could have been someone in a car accident, or havin a heart attack that u cant see from the waiting room... could have also been the lady with a cold who wastes doctors time in an emergency room rather then seeing her family doc, o going to a walk in clinic...

i think alot of the problem is people who cant figure out the difference between an emergency and non...

the ER isnt a place to go because u have a fever or the runs, its a place to go if u are in serious trouble,

in most cases found in the ER im sure a walk in clinic would totally suffice, but people dont get that...

personally ill take a clinic over a hospital unless im bleeding, cus the wait is usually an hour or less

I've never had to wait for more than a half hour for treatement in an "emergency" situation. In the past few years I've been in for food poisoning, a deep puncture wound in my thigh, and debris in my eye. I sail past everyone with a bad cough or runny nose.

However when I went in one night feeling dizzy and had a loss of balance I did have to wait a couple hours. No big deal.

I agree.

The last two times I went to the Emergency Room at the hospital, I waited all of 2 minutes max... total. One time involved me talking to a nurse and telling her what was wrong, the other time involved me going straight to a bed and someone else talking to the nurse for me.

If you go to the Emeregency Room, and it's not as urgent and emergency, then guess what? That's right, It probably isn't an emergency anymore!

I think the funniest (and truest) segment I've ever seen on the ER was that episode of Scrubs, where the usual gang had to work the latenight ER shifts.

"No ma'am. In fact, for a woman of your size, two childrens Tylenols would be more like an under-dose"

The clinics back where I come from are horrible. If your not sick when you walk in there you sure as hell will be when you leave! That and I swear the doctors aren't real doctors cause they don't know anything. I had an exposed vein in my nose eventually I could'a died but after about 2 months of it bleeding for no reason every so often barely being able to stop it I finally went to the clinic to see the doctor looked in my throat firs tof all what the hell was wrong with him my nose is bleeding NOT my throat. Second of all he's like here just stick kleenex up there and it should stop and get a humidifier (or whatever) to make the air in my room not so 'dry' We did that the nose bleeds kept up. So decided to goto my doctor to check it out with them. Funny how he fixed it in 10minutes and knew exactly what it was and where to look!!! So yeah after that I won't ever goto a clinic again.

I have Von Willebrans disease which means in some cases i cant stop bleeding. I had to wait one time this summer for 2 hours to get the bleeding stopped, all the meanwile blood is gushing out of my nose non-stop for those 2 hours.

They were taking people with alot less serious things before me, and were taking people who came in after me before they took me. ANY hospital sucks *** imo. Thank god my dad is a dr/chiropractor.

Actually, if you are sick (not injured) it is your best bet to tell them you have a stiff neck / neck pains... you'll get in IMMEDIATELY.

Actually you won't even have time to realize it before you're in an isolated room... nothing but privacy, and in there in a minute.

But for the courtesy of other patients, it is probably best to not fake an illness for rapid service rather than deal with what everyone else is dealing with.
