That made me laugh.

They just started making home subs and instantly they must be great.

If you actually sold and installed home theatre components, you would know that seeing all the ***** and controls on the top of that sub would cause nothing but trouble. There is a reason most companies put the controls on the back of their subs. You set it up and forget about it. Now their kids will see all the lovely buttons and lights and end up knocking the whole sub end out of phase.

Just my $.02

You guys are forgetting one important part of the calculation:

110volts * 15amps * 3marketing majors = 4950 watts total availible...

It says 3800 watts short term. They haven't defined the term so it is likely a fraction of a second. A large capacitor bank could provide the power required.

Given the weight, and cost, I would think there would be a fairly hefty capacitor bank in the sub. Much like my Harmon Kardon receiver. Its a massive beast at around 65lbs, and draws a maximum of 1300 watts at 120V. Huge capacitor bank in the damn thing so it provides solid power to all 7 speakers at the same time. Though nowhere near 3800 watts short term.

3800 RMS short term... umm isn't that an oxymoron?

"short term RMS" I think that's what pyramid and legacy rate their amps with, but they call it "maximum power"
