Does anyone know where old electronic devices go to die ? do junk yards usually end up with this stuff for recycling/proper disposal or does it usually end up as landfill ??

Actually, being serious, they had a few big articles on the vast amount of 'junk' computer parts on 60 minutes or something a while back.

We go through this stuff at such a high rate that it is cause for (even more) concern, due to its make-up.

Apparently since most of these sorts of parts like circuit boards,hard/disk drives, wiring, power supplies etc, are virtually indestructible materials-wise, they are predicting there will be a huge problem with them in landfills due to their inability to break down.

Not like we dont have enough problems with our trash, either.

However there were a few large companies in the USA attempting to find a way to recycle/reuse these parts....not sure on the most recent news on that though.

Well my back-water town of less than 45,000 people has a computer/electronic recycling company. And since eveything west of Toronto is apparantly 'behind the times' there should be one out east.

Check your local yellow pages...
