A newer version of Kazza is now available, but when you download it you have to download several other programs as well, including GAIN which hits you with a crazy amount of pop up ads, and another program that adds a search bar to your screen so I'm hesitant to download 2.6

What other options are available? I've heard of LimeWire and Morpheus, but wanted to get some opinions before I download anything else. What does everyone think?

 

mIRC all the way. Screw Kazaa, there is just too much BS that goes along with it! I'd rather not download that have to put up with that crap on my computer.

 

**** Kazzaa!! I have gotten 2 viruses in the last 2 months! It's not worth it.

 

Which one is best for downloading movies in mpeg format that I can burn to VCD? I want a good selection.

 

WINMX is the way to go.
No spyware and no other BS.

 

Kazaa scrambles the music files unless you are a registered member but it is great for movies. But i would use Kazaa Lite K++ there is no spyware on that. And for music i use WINMX or MIRC. But i will buy the CD if i like the whole CD not just a few songs.

 

Bittorent is the best file sharing program. You need to download the program first and then got to the webpage. The web page to download movies and stuff is actually www.suprnova.org
There are a lot of good movies on that webpage.

 

win mx & dc++(private server)mx has been good , but works best with dsl for some strange reason.if you decide to use it,i can send you an old version as they are trying to make it a pay service with the new version(do not d/l it,bad things will happen)(spam & pop up hell everytime you open your browser) i have yet to try dc++,apearently more secure for those with huge number of files to share.with mx limit your shared # to aprox 1000, anymore and you might get hit by the legal crap that kazza is undergoing.

If u really wanna download Kazaa just download adware as well and run it. (Spybot works good) it gets rid of all that stupid spyware.
