Looking for information
#1
Hello,
I have an old receiver that I'm trying to use. I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of where I could find a manual. I search google, and couldn't find anything. The receiver is an old Marantz AV Surround receiver model # SR73-U.
Unfortunately that is the only information I have.
Thank-you in advance

I'm just trying to set it up for my boss. When I use just the 2 front towers, it sounds awesome. But as soon as I switch it to surround sound, the volume goes way down, and it sounds really tinny. I was just wondering if there was something that I had missed to make it sound better.

Does the rec only have Dolby Prologic?
What happens when you turn that on is that most of the sound is sent to the center speaker.
If you can switch it to Phantom Center it should sound a bit better. (it splits the center info btween LT and RT)
I wouldn't bother using it for surround sound. Just stick with 2ch.

there might be a 'Hall' setting which is 4 ch stereo (no front center) just 2 front and 2 rear. That is fairly satisfying for music with reinforced mid-bass... I am assuming he has more than the 2 front speakers... if not stick with stereo

That reciever is a Pro-Logic only reciever, it doesn't have a dedicated sub out.
The surround and prologic settings are for movies encoded in surround. Tho there are music cd's that are also in Pro-Logic.
Hall and Jazz may be used for stereo recordings.
