Okay guys, here's the situation. I bought myself a Centrino laptop to go on course this spring, I am back from my course and I want to convert my home to a wireless network and access point. What I need to know is this: What do I need to do this? I know I need a router(?) to connect to my DSL modem, then I need a wireless card or adapter in my home puter, and I already have one in my laptop. Is that right? As for the access point side.. I just set my router up to "share with others, right? Thanks for the help.

You get a wireless router, you connect your PC to it by cable, since it would be a waste of money to spend $100 on another wireless adaptor for the PC. If you have 2 PC's that are close, wire them both up, if you have 2 PC's that are far apart, use wireless for 1 and cable for the other. Use your laptop's wireless card.

Then you set up the router and it will work, you might want to change a few settings to just not anybody can connect to your network!

I have a couple of wireless cards if your interested.

But wireless is a pain in the ***. My wireless router broke after a 1 1/2 year. Said **** it and went back to wires.
