I totally agree, yet Xphoid and PPPEIC or whoever he is must think it takes talent... Since they seem it be amusing that I stated try a few test welds etc etc...but apparently they think it take more talent then just that.. Of Course there's more to it but if you can arc or not Mig is pretty easy to pick up.

easiest to hardest:

mig
arc
tig
oxy acetylene

mig is basically point and pull the trigger...dosnt get much easier...

once had a miller it worked good...probobly still does to whoever stole it!

I'ved never touched Tig, only thing I use oXy acetylene for is of course Blow Torch [img]smile.gif[/img] lol

I was amused because of the fact that because people can make the weld nice looking they think it' easy and a good weld.

Sure mig is the easiest to make look nice, but infact it's the hardest of the 4 most common types to make a fault free weld.

You always hear people say "oh ya I can weld".
But in fact I bet most of them can't come close to making a half decent weld.

i hate to say it but martin is right [img]smile.gif[/img] anybody can pick up a mig and "lay a nice bead" but to get the proper heat and good penetration (hehe i said pentetration) is a different story. me personally,,i can weld two pop cans together with an arc welder [img]graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

I would never have a constant purpose for a welding machine, but would be nice to have for them odd time jobs...

Penetration that's the word I was going for, huge brain fart lol, yeah I could burns big hole through a pop can [img]smile.gif[/img]
