Amazing speakers, all of them. And they all probably cost 10% of the retail price to produce. God bless the rich who can keep these companies in business.

Anyone ever get a chance to listen to these?
Yes I have at CES 2008 and 2009. They sounded very good at 2008 and OK at 2009. There is a lot to the carbon fibre body and they use great drivers. Kind of a sexy style too (really you have to have some visual appeal at that price). Smooth and inviting sound overall I didn't think I was going to plink down the coin for it (even if I had it) but it was quite enjoyable certainly better than many speakers that cost much more. Now the Octave line from Morel does push my happy button and if I was shopping for a speaker system I would definitely want to audition them. Morel makes good sounding stuff up and down their product line. I am not sure the fat ladies are in my top 10 but with a proper audition (not in a hotel room)...

^ If I had the cheddar to drop on home speakers in that range, I'd go for the B&W Nautilus. Nothing cooler.

Those Macintosh speakers remind me of the Infinity IRS V towers that were around in the late 80's. Each side had two towers: one holding 6 12's that I believe came with their own amp that was over 1kW, and the other tower had like 36 ribbon (Emit-K?) tweeters and 12 or so mids in it. Their cost was $50k/pair and this was 20+ years ago. I'm going off memory here so don't quote me and I haven't done a google search yet on them.

EDIT: I did a search and here's a link: http://www.infinity-classics.de/infinity/models/IRS-series+Beta+Gamma-Delta-Sigma-Epsilon-1988-95-98/IRS/body_irs.html

I agree Sux, and having heard those Infinity's at a Luxman dealer show, I just had to try and tone down the hot top end, by using the comforter pillows the hotel provided, behind the speakers
I haven't heard the new Morel, but always did like their SQ, found it very neutral and very detailed.
Can't say I like the looks of them (not in my living room anyway), and looking at the design, makes me wonder why the drivers are so far apart?

These make my Polk Audio speakers look like nothing! Even if I had that much money, I think I'd rather custom build my own.
