I figured someone here might have one of these, or a cellphone guru here could explain something for me...

Reading the specs for the V710 at http://www.telusmobility.com/ab/pcs/...ola_v710.shtml , I see that I can add a 128MB card for mp3 use. The specs read a little fishy though...

Can I just fill up the card with any old mp3's and all will be fine or do they have to be liscenced mp3's downloaded from Telus or somewhere?

Oh and I'm assuming there's a standard stereo mini-plug on the phone that headphones could be plugged into, or I could plug it into the input on my car stereo?
Mini stereo jack on the top. I have a 128 card in mine and downloaded a bunch of songs, there are 512 cards now available, friend of mine has one in her new Rogers phone... Camera on the V710 works well in lit areas... if it gets dark... well, not the greatest. My only gripe is how Telus crippled the BlueTooth capabilities. I had bought it so I can take pictures and transfer contacts between my phone and my PocketPC as well as sync my calander with my computer... no such luck. Only thing you can use the BT for is hands free. Other than that, it's a great phone.

I have the v710 with Telus and i was complaining about the bluetooth as well. All you have to do is read up on it and you can edit the software and voila! all bluetooth enabled as well as you can make mp3 ringtones. check out www.inetron.com

I work for a Telus store and the v710 is a nice phone.... IF you get the right software upgrade and it's done properly.... no you can't use a bluetooh headset to listen to mp3's (I can with my moto rokr e1 (with rogers) it rokrz!!!) and yes you can hack it but keep the old flash just in case you need it serviced.... you can go with mobile phone tools but no editing of ringtones or downloading pictures (they have put a blocking on the software for both) I can with my Rokr, with it I can use the 512mb transflash (that's right it comes with it....FREE!!!) as a USB storage device, the other day I tossed a BMX video on it.... DVD format! took it to a buddies and tossed it on his comp and watched it..... it's rad. The one downfall I have is since the phone has iTunes in it as the mp3 player program, they have put a cap of 100 songs.... kinda ****ty but every morning I plug it in autofill and away I go..... I also have a 4 gig iPod with a Alpine KCA-420i in my car but going through 1000+ songs ain't fun..... So yes the v710 is a great phone on the Telus network, I love the Rokr....

edit: as far as I know moto has a cord for the rokr that you can add a regular set of headphones, like $20 or something......

A little off topic but How can anyone sign a three year deal?? I ruin my phone within 2 years, I do not think I am overly hard on it but it goes everywhere with me and it is my only phone so it gets alot of use. I know when I bought my phone with bell the differance in cost of the purchase price of the phone was minimal between a 2 year and a three year plan. By the time you factor in the cost of a new battery (mine seems to be done after 2 years) and the chance of loosing or damaging your phone and having to buy a new one it just does not seem worth it. Plus it is always nice to have a new phone.
I noticed a few dealers have responded to this thread. Would you actualy recommend to a friend signing a three year deal?
