Movie to begin filming in Toronto!
A buddy of mine that I know from another forum I visit just recieved this statement in his mailbox. He lives in Toronto.
------------------------------
"Notification of Filming"
"Resident Evil: Apocalypse"
Attn: Businesses\Residents in the area of 80 Gould street
Davis Films\Impact (Canada) Inc. is currently producing the feature film: "Resident Evil: apocalypse." The film stars Milla Jovovich who plays the heroine (Alice), who finds herself in the middle of a secret corporate experiment that releases a deadly virus into Raccoon City. As the corporation begins to quarantine the city perimeter, the citizens within the walls of the city are left to fend for themselves against the infected living dead. Our filming will take place in a number of locations throughout the Greater Toronto Area..."
yadda yadda yadda, then specifies dates and locations, signed 2nd Unit Location Manager...
And then this is what he had to say on the subject.
------------------------------
So this is like 2 blocks from my place so I guess I'll stroll on by the set to see how badly it sucks.
(it's weird, I've seen lots of Film Notices around here, but never one that divulged the film's plot and lead actor!)
------------------------------
Well, how about that. I guess Canada does serve a purpose! For the USA to make their great movies there. HA HA HA HA!!!

Gould street is in the heart of Ryerson University, which I happen to attend and currently doing electrical engineering.
80 Gould street is the Rogers communications centre building, Which is part of the university aswell. I think ill have a look at the set everyday going past there for my classes. Any word on when they will start filming ???

Well, he just got this in his mail yesterday. So I would assume pretty soon. If they are letting people know! And I would think they would want to do what they are going to do this month ot early next. Before we start heading into Fall and it starts getting really cold out! I'll have to ask him on the exact dates. But if he just got it in his mail, I would think they are doing it soon!

You'd be surprised how many "American" films are filmed in Canada. You didn't honestly think Rumble in the Bronx was filmed in New York did you? Didn't the B.C. Rocky mountains look a little out of place?
Heck J.Lo was in Medicine Hat doing filming for An Unfinished Life, which also stars Morgan Freeman and Robert Redford.

Yep, the big movie Chicago was ironically filmed in Toronto
They don't call Vancouver "Hollywood North" for nuthin. Near where I work, there is 2 film studios complete with multiple, big soundstages. And I visted another one in N. Van, Lions Gate Studios, which has worked on a lot of big movies. J Lo and Ben are renting a house up here and Access Hollywood did a story from there. Almost every day I see somewhere that has temporary signs up for film shoots, like for the crew parking or where you can't park cuz the big white semi trucks and trailers need the space.
When X Files was still filmed up here, they use to film quite a bit on the street my office building, and a few others was on (before we moved). Gillian Anderson was in the lobby of my building feeding her baby one time. Kinda neat And I saw that show Viper filmed out front of our building as well.
Seeing the incredible amount of work and staff to just make 1 5 min. scene is unreal. It's no wonder making TV shows and movies cost so much!
