Well, aside from car audio, I've always been into computers. I work in the IT department of a farily large company in oakville, doing network administration. Decided it was finally time to upgrade my home PC, here are the specs:

Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe mobo
AMD Athlon 3200+ (2.2GHz) @ 400(200x2)MHz FSB
1024MB Low Latency PC3200 DDR Ram (Dual Channel)
2x 36GB 10000RPM Western Digital Raptor SATA HDs
Hard drives setup in a Raid 0 array, with onboard controller
Dual onboard Gigabit NICs
6 Channel Audo w/SPDIF output
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro 128MB DDR(from previous system)
430 watt antec True power in a full tower case
52x Plextor EIDE CDRW drive

System is lightning fast, especially the file system. Programs install really fast, gaming is fantastic.. Hope this lasts me for awhile.. Going to try to overclock it a bit soon..

Love the raptors. I was going to get a new system, but I'm going to hold off until August and see what the new A64 does.

Not really, it all depends on the controller card. Most botherboards with SATA only allow two devices, and they dont work in a master/slave configuration. The cables are very handy, and small, and most controllers will support up to 150MB/s, as opposed to eide which maxes out at 100-133MB/s.

I was considering the Athlon 64, however the first generation socket is already being phased out, and the cost of the boards and cpus was too high for my budget.

The raptors are fantastic, the quick file system makes a really noticable difference in performance. I ran some ATTO benchmarks, and got scores of over 110MB/s. Most single 7200rpm SATA drives (not in a raid 0) will score around 30-40MB/s. Highly recommended!
