My pos computer....
The old IBM is acting up again. I seem to have lost my taskbar at the bottom of the screen. Any ideas? This thing has been giving me grief for a few years now, please help before I get out the hammer and do something I regret......it is using Windows 98 btw.
Is it just a little grey bar across the bottom of the screen? Move the mouse downwards onto it until it turns into a double-sided arrow. Click and drag it up to the size desired. Are the desktop icons coming up as well?
Maybe run a recovery.

Thanks Chadxton, the icons are all there, I have tried every corner of the desktop, the cursor does not change.... I don't think it has been hidden anywhere on the desktop. And Andrew, I am actually in Vancouver, fair ways from Alberta(Thank God J/K )
Have to try out the old recovery/diagnostic cd-rom I guess....

What happens when you hit the window key? Does the start menu come up?
hmmmmmm....
Ok, when did this start happening? I think I may have a resolution for you. But you have to remember on what approximate date this problem started.
Boot your computer to a DOS command prompt. Hit the F8 key before the Win 98 splash screen comes up and choose "Command Prompt Only" when the Windows 98 start up menu comes up. It may be tricky to get to, so it may require a few tries.
Once at the command prompt, type the following:
scanreg /restore *Enter*
exactly as it is. You'll see a blue screen with a bunch of dates. Each date is a record of a registry backup. Choose one at least a day or 2 before it happened. Use your recollection on this, this generally can only be done once.
