I have narrowed down my choices to 2 cameras.

THe first one is this.

http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/prodde...74&catid=20226

and the other is this.

http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/prodde...10&catid=22474

I dont know if I want the zoom of the S2 IS or the exta megapixels of the A620. Does the 7 mp make that much a difference over 5 mp?

honestly if you're not printing the pictures, or blowing up the pictures to be printed; then you won't notice a difference between 5MP, and 7MP.

now there is a big difference between digital, and optical zoom. digital zoom is crap. personally I'd get #1, but if you don't really think you'd use the zoom all that much, and you plan on printing the pictures, or blowing up the pictures, then I'd get #2

regards, Mark

I would strongly recommend checking out http://www.tigerdirect.ca

I have purchased many refurb items from them with 3 to 6 month warranty and you can get those same cameras for about 2/3rds the price.

I have been looking at the baby brother to that
Canon PowerShot 7.1MP Digital Camera
I have been looking at the A610.

Couple others I have researched are the

Nikon CoolPix 5600 or 5900
Fuji FinePix E510
Kodak EasyShare C360

all very good reviews.

great resource for reviews on Digital Cameras

I took the S1 to SBN in Daytona earlier this year and I was very impressed with the camera. All of the pics were in focus, sharp and clear. The video was also very good, even at full screen on the computer monitor. Other than it's size occasionally being in the way I give it

5MP is good for high resolution prints up to like 16" x 20" which is probably more then most people need...

I just picked up brand new HP R817 for $248 shipped on ebay ! Love it so far...

True that!! I just bought a Sony W7 best digi cam i have ever owned, and i have had several including a canon which by the way failed a month after warranty expired. This is a 7.1 meg camera and i find the 5mp setting is the most useful for quality and image size for my card

Option one IMHO.

We have a couple Kodaks - EasyShare something & EasyShare DX6490. Good cameras. Much happier though with our Canon PowerShot S1 IS. We've taken literally upwards of 2000+ photos & numerous videos. Still going strong! Bought ours at Future Shop, but just saw it recently at Costco for under $500 if I remember right.

I wouldn't use a 5 MP for anything more than an 8"x12", personally ...

Iam just going by what the owners manual for my camera said...

I've seen 8x11s laser printed from 3MP camera shots and they seemed pretty much perfect to me...
