New Computer!
$1200 include a 19" flat pannel? (got the ultrasharp beauty). building your own is definetly a money savng move but i have no time nor patience nor expertise to control the build the way i would like.
eitherway, you have a sweet machine!

Yeah Xeons are about $450 each and a decent mobo is about $300 but I work for a computer company and can get parts cheap usually as long as they are not rare parts.
No the $1200 didn't include a 19 LCD since I already have an LCD. Do u game alot? Are you going to use the computer for what it's made for? If so then have fun with it, if not, you should have spent less money, imo

I got a dual xeon system because I like having a fast computer for stuff. Most games I play, play like crap. I mean with Half-life 2 I get like 30 fps around and it sucks. Battlefield 2, I get around 50 and it is playable but it's still laggy for me in heavy firefights. I think I am going to sell what I have and get a dual core AMD because that would help alot.
I also do tons of stuff with my comp and it's nice for it to be done so quickly

I mean I have a 2.8 P4 with HT and 1GB 3200 DDRRAM exapanable to 4GB of RAM (Why you'd need that much is beyond me) and my computer flies. I can't imagine going any faster. Takes like 15 seconds in all for the PC to boot up. 3 seconds for windows to come up after welcome. Most games fly, I could use a better graphics card, but that's about it. Just can't imagine going faster.

Yeah I know what you all mean. It's a never ending game of cat and mouse.
Like at work, we got a 8 CPU Xeon MP server with like 14 fiber channel harddrives. It was great when we got it and it was so fast and my boss thought we would only have to upgrade in about 5 years. 2 months later, we are already going to add another 8 CPU's to it, to make it a 16 way and we are also upgrading the harddrives for faster ones since the ones we have are old and out dated. I say in about 1 years time, we are going to have to replace the whole server and thats not gonna be fun.

Later,
Brad </font>[/QUOTE]Really with the systems they have now you shouldn't need more, but with program sizes exapnding and demanding more speed and ram it's inevitable I guess.
