New Gaming PC build
New Gaming PC build
Well this is for all the technogeeks. Decided at Xmas this year to purchase a new monitor. Got a deal on a new I-inc 28" LCD. Awesome monitor for under $400 BTW.
Well found out after hooking it up that I can no longer play most games or even DVDs now. Reason is present PC is 7 years old and is a Celeron D 2.8Ghz, 512mb ram, 8x AGP 128mb video card. Well I decided to do a little upgrade. LOL
Soooo the new rig will be....(prices are before taxes)
Intel I7 930 processor - $320
Asus P6T motherboard - $250
2x Bfg GTX 260 Maxcore OverClocked video cards in SLI - $390
4x Patriot 32gb 64mb cache Solid state drives in raid 0 for OS only - $410
2x WD Caviar Black 7200rpm 64mb cache 1.5tb HDDs for storage - $230
9gb OCZ Reaper 1866mhz tri channel ram - $330
Cooler master Silent pro 1000w power supply - $160
Cooler master CM-690 case (non Nvidia version) - $90
I am going to use the DVD burner I have now as a Blu ray combo drive is still too much as I don't really watch alot of movies. LOL Yeah I know what you're thinking $2200+ for the PC and too cheap to pay $150 for Blu ray. LOL
Well let me know what you guys think. Will the performance justify the price?
I will be posting pics as soon as I actually start the build.
Thanks for looking
Nick

Does the Mobo support hardware raid or software raid? 4x 32 solid state drives seems rather nuts but it's probably beneficial for games.
Products look great. I'm not a gamer, but you seem to have all the right parts for a super solid gaming system.

Thanks guys. Don I am actually a **** producer and it will be used for serious video editing. LOL Nothing like life size *******.
LOL The story is after the new monitor the old PC won't even play a DVD now. I figure if I have to upgrade it I might as well build somethng that will last a few years. Pretty much into any driving / racing games.

thats nuts nick
I think when your done you should trade me for my laptop, lol
I was into PC gaming for a while in University, I soon realized that with the way games are constantly pushing hardware requirements further and further (see Chrysis) That a much better investment would be an xbox360. (FORZA3 + wheel + big tv 3' infront)
Keep the thread updated I want too see pics!
