i remeber waking up and listening to the radio, jumping out of bed and tunring on the tv to cnn in time to see the 2nd tower attack and to see the collapse. i looked outside my front window, at the time i was living in a house in peachland that was right on the beach of okanagon lake, a beautiful late summer morning, and couldnt belive that something like that was happening. here i am sitting down looking out at the beach and the lake and 3500 kilometers away people are jumping 80 floors to their death, i remeber thinking, in the freedom we enjoy here in the western world this isnt supposed to happen, really made me realize that terrorism wasnt just something that happened elsewhere
they stopped doing roof rescues like 3 years before 9/11 besides it would have taken too long to get more then like 10 people anyway, also, the doors leading to the roof in just about any building are locked, so all the people in the towers who thought "go to the roof and a helicopter will save us" got to the top of the stairs and found a locked door, i dunno bout u but my first instinct when i was in a building in mexico and there was an earthquake wasnt to go up...... thats fer damn sure

Talk to anyone who spends time in court, 90% of witness testimony is wrong in some way. How many people know:
a)What a jet sounds like flying low and level to the ground ?
- I've been to enough airbases and airshows to know its a completely different type of sound. I've had an F-15 fly over me from behind at around 100 feet. Besides scarrying the be-jesus out of me it sounds nothign like a 747 taking off or passing overhead to land at our airport.
b) What a missle sounds like flying past you ?
- Unless you live in Iraq probably not.
Still think a missle hit the Pentagon ? Here's an email I've dug up from someone I knew the US who witnessed it first hand and at close range. Only edit I've done is remove names.

so, as many of you may know, i'm in DC at the moment, stuck here for a few
extra days. i originally came out here for a pretty quick trip, but i'm
totally willing to wait as long as it takes to come back home. thanks to XXXXX
for giving me a safe and comfortable place to stay--and for letting me stay
until "whenever." i've even considered keeping my rental car to drive it back
across the country, just to avoid having to get on a plane. but, as it is, i'm
scheduled to fly back to LA on friday evening. i'm hoping that things will
have settled down by then.
i know XXXX may have sent many of you an email conveying that i'm ok. (thanks,
XXXX, for doing that for me). and thanks to all of you who called to check on
me and included me in your thoughts and prayers. it's been quite a memorable
trip.
sorry for the mass email, but it's the most efficient way to let all of you
know that i'm fine, if a bit shaken. and to let you all know how surreal it
was to have actually witnessed that plane crash into the pentagon. i still
can't quite believe i what i saw. anyway, since i know all of you are going to
ask, here's my eyewitness account of an *America Under Seige*:
So, Tuesday morning, around 9:40, I*m driving along 395-N, headed into DC for a
10:00 meeting between the Capitol and Union Station. I had just come from the
Franconia/Springfield Metro station, at the end of the Blue Line, having given
up on finding a parking space at that huge, but completely filled, parking
structure. Flicking through the various radio stations, I heard reports of a
hijacked terrorist crashing a plane into the World Trade Center in New York.
At first thinking it to be some stupid DJ prank, I actually had to remind
myself that it was nowhere near April Fool*s Day before coming to the shocking
realization that this was actually real*that this really was happening in NYC.
Then the DJs reported that Washington was also on *high security alert* for
other terrorist acts. Unthinkable, I think to myself.
As the traffic crawled along 395, I continued listening to the radio in
semi-disbelief, semi-thinking about the time and how I will probably be late to
my 10:00 meeting because of the heavy traffic. As I came up alongside the
Pentagon, I looked at it to my left and*as always*marvelled at the sheer size
of that building when I saw a silver American Airlines plane coming in. But it
was coming in way too fast and way too low to be headed toward National
Airport, just on the other side of the Pentagon. Just as I was thinking this,
a split second after I noticed the plane, it suddenly smashed into the side of
the Pentagon and exploded with a huge crash. I felt the rumble of the ground
as it shook from the impact, felt the heat of the fireball through my closed
window that the explosion threw up into the air, then smelled the clouds of
black smoke that immediately began billowing out from the astonishing crash.
I think to myself: I can*t believe that I*ve seen this. I*ve just witnessed an
act of terrorism, on the Pentagon, for Christ*s sake. I just saw hundreds of
people lose their lives in a split second. I immediately look around to check
and see if the other drivers around me have seen this, too. Everyone is on
their cell phones, staring at the scene in disbelief. I wonder what I*m
supposed to do in this situation: Do I call 911? Do I call CNN? Should I
stop, pull over? No, I don*t want to do this* what if there*s another plane
coming and misses the Pentagon and crashes on the highway? I decide that I
want to be as far away from this building as I possibly can. How do I contact
the radio station to clue them in on this? They keep blabbering on and on
about the World Trade Center but have no idea about this huge crash right in
their own backyard? What's the number for DC101.9 anyway?
As I reach frantically for my cell phone to call someone, anyone, I can*t stop
looking at the black smoke pouring out from the side of the Pentagon, but keep
driving along with the flow of traffic for lack of anywhere else to go. But my
phone won*t let me dial anyone*too much cell phone traffic. I keep trying to
get a signal as I wonder about my meeting. Given the fact that I*ve just seen
a plane crash into the f***ing Pentagon, I*m figuring the city will no doubt
shut down and I*ll probably be stranded somewhere. I need to turn around
before going much further and get as far away from the city as possible. I
sure as hell don't want to be caught in some tunnel, on some bridge, or
anywhere near a potential target of a future terrorist assault.
But I keep driving along for lack of knowing where to go or what else to do.
Actually, I have no choice, as I*m on this highway and at this point there are
no more exits until the city. I think about what*s coming up and realize I
have to cross over the Memorial Bridge. I also vaguely remember a tunnel
coming up, both of which make me a little unsettled, thinking that I don*t want
to be in or on either should another plane come down*
But I make it to South Capitol Street where I get off and pull into a gas
station to find a pay phone to call XXXX at NCCJ to find out if this
meeting is really going to happen or not. I tell her I*ve just seen a plane
fly directly into the Pentagon. She tells this news to her co-workers before
telling me to just turn around and go back*the meeting is cancelled. She then
apologizes to me for having to fly all the way out here only to have our
meeting cancelled. I think her apology sweet, if not slightly ironic.
I ask for directions back to Springfield, VA, from a man who*s also pulled over
to use the pay phones, and get back on the freeway to get out of town as fast
as I can.
