YIKES !!!! Did think I get much of a response.
Ok, so here it is. I went M3 because they are a hell of a lot rarer and are becoming more so with the original E30 M3 as a lot of them are hitting the crusher or been wacked up as race cars. There were hundred's of thousands of BMW 2002's brought into north amercia. You ccccan haul one out of someone's backyard for free. I know...... this past summer I did it for a parts car. Anyways, the original plan was to take this E30 M3 I found and gut it for parts for the 2002 as the M3 four banger motor is a direct bolt in. But once I saw the car, feelings of guilt crept in about carving her up. Anyways, long story short, I'm keeping her and pulling her out of the grave. This one I got for a great deal but it has been rear-ended. It's completely fixable.
Here's a nice shot of one. Mine's red though on a black interior.

Oh yeah, M1's are nice but a real pain in the butt to maintain. BMW is no longer making parts for it in any fashion. So it's all custom work. Mind you there's a guy in Port Perry Ontario that was the chief BMW M1 race mechanic for the German M1 team. He's here now and maintains two of them, plus a bunch of other M cars. Bastard
