no need to be sorry, it is your car and your money.
just trying to lend you some advice.
you are still in high school i believe, and are about to blow 2500 on a paint job for a 15 year old car. you still have the rest of your life ahead of you to think of. that 2500 can be put towards college, or something else more useful than a paint job.
invest in your future now and later on in life you will have all the money you will need to pimp out your ride.
now you can invest that 2500 in your paint job. drive the living snot out out that cavalier like you know you will (3.1 5spd, it's just too much to resist, i know i got about an average of 350-400/tank with mine)
doing burnouts just for fun, you are young, i know what that is like, take into accout you will have to replace the tires you have to burn off, take into account you will have to replace the clutch you are burning away.
now i don't exactly know how much money you are making, but i believe i have read you work at a ford dealership so i am guessing less than $10/hr
you have car insurance, gas etc to pay for, plus your entertainment expenses....
sure you are living at home so no rent or food to pay i'm sure...
just think ahead... don't jump into this..
i know lots of people give you are hard time on here, and i'm not trying to be one of them.. just trying to help you out.

k i get your point. 1 i have already enough money to put me through 4 or so year's of college for mehcanic's. 2 i got a rasie from 8 to 10 buck's. 3 really money is not an issue for me. 4th i do not do burn out's. the cop's know my car way to damn well. 5th i am a very responsible driver. i do not show off just for fun. 6th if i need any part's replaced, i can get discount's. i have 2 places in town that give me discount's. 1 the ford dealership, 2 midwest here in town. also if i can't pay for the part's at midwest i just put it on my dad's acount and make monthly payment's. so really money is not an issue for me. i already have every tihng i need to make it through college and have a very relible job.
so i'm set. no need for me to worry or for any of you guy/gal's either.

I wasn't aware that ford was able to get Chevy parts Chunk lol
PG has a point make sure you want to keep investing in that car if you plan to keep it for a long time. Because you won't get back what you paid for it.

There is nothing wrong with painting a older car if you really like it. One of my friends will be getting his 93 Stealth TT redone over the winter. As will my '97 Eclipse Spyder. No offense but the paint job will be as much of the car, and when you resell it you will get nothing for it. It's your money, and no body shop will tell you not to because they make money. All the power to ya Chunk.
yeha i'm goign to have to some rethinking here. i was just told by a good freind that i will have trouble's painting the car. in 2 spot's on the car it has gone right through the sheet metal. i'm thinking the only real way that i can fix it is by getting a new door and panel. the panel is going to be a pian in the butt to get on and off. when i bought this car i totaly understand the risk i took. it will be a many year restore. if i'm lucky when i turn 30 it will be ready. lol. mabye sooner, but hey i'm chunk. if i want something done i get it done.
If money is no issue why not just buy a nicer/newer car in better condition? Im not trying to be rude, but those second gen j-body's are plagued with problems, and in NO way is going to last until your 30. $2000 for that car and the $3000 you want to put towards a paint job could land you something that might last you longer, and look better doing it.
Something i would assume an aspiring mechanic would have thought of...

hmm. shut up. ok got that out of my head. also, have you evr had the chance to restore somehting? well if you have thne you know what i'm trying to do. if i can't restore a 1971 C-10, then i'll take what's next inline. so really if i want this car i'll keep it. honestly, i don't much care about what you nay sayer's are saying.
hey jordyo can you close this?
