And in Tim's case, do #5a and #5b as often as possible, for added pleasure.

I Agree with tim.. you should never ever just "cut" ignition wires, or for that matter any factory wires. Strip and solder onto it.

Sorry but your not going to find a easy way out of this. either you a) tell her to screw off and upset her, and co-workers.. or b) bend over and take it.. both ways you loose respect.

Yeah..I agree that it seems like I'm screwed either way I go.Everyone I talk to says that she handled the whole thing very wrong, weather I am at fault or not.

I think I'm going to swallow my pride give her the $100 and make her sign a "release" stating that should the same problem or other problems arise that she can't come back on me.I will also state that she is aware that I am not claiming responsibility nor denying it,but rather trying to put things to rest and get on with life like a reasonably think adult.

From here on,someone wants me to do work on their car/stereo in anyway, even changing a bulb, they sign a release first.I will also do a complete 100% walk around of the vehicle and make note of everything.

Call it overkill, but damn it,this even too ridiculous!!

Normally I would agree, but she has already made my life at work a living hell...shes got everybody bugging me now..."Hey,next time I need to blow something in my car,I'll be sure to give you a call..".Yesterday I got so pissed off witht the owners son when he said that,I told him to go blow his boyfriend.Mr.Macho Stud didnt like that much..hehe...

Anyway..If I dont pay her, things will just get worse...for $100 its just not worth it...

she had the check engine light on when she came to you. tell her that she should have spent her money on a mechanic instead of a CD player, and maybe she woudn't be having these problems.

2 words, POUND SAND

as for everyone at work buggin u, talk to the boss, tell him u are being harrassed for something thats not work related and u want it to stop, if it doesnt u sue, if he fires u, u sue for wrongful dismissal, if u were on company time and screwed up and they were jokin with u ok fine, but they are being retarded, first u tell them to knock it off as its inappropriate, if they dont stop, u talk to the boss, if it doesnt stop u talk to a lawyer, plain and simple, most companies have a zero tolerance policy on harrassment, thats what it is,

good luck,

Ok...Insult to injury today...

She calls me up while I'm at work and says"oh..I just found out I have to take it to the dealer to be coded, blah, blah, blah and its going to cost $60 someodd dollars to do that...what have you come up with?".. HUH?..I says "whats this all about?"..So then from there long story short, she wants me to cover the parts, the labour, and the cost of coding or whatever to this thing..."So whats the grand total for all this?"..."I dont know!" she says...then she freaks out on me when I get mad...she yacks some more about this and that and calls me a liar and so forth...then she says she will have a total for me tommorow...

I think when she gives me the total tommorow,I will tell her to leave it with me for a couple days(while I get legal guidance..hehe)....

This is going to get very ugly I think..Wish me luck everyone...I think I'm going to need it...

Dude....enough bull****....you asked for everyone's opinion here...we've almost all said to tell her to beat.

Tell her this. "I have talked to a number of certified mechanics and they all agreed that my stereo install could not have caused your problems!" (who cares if you haven't talked to certified mechanics. She's lied to you...you can lie to her. Then give her her $20 back and tell her that you will not pay for her previous problems and lack of maitenence on the vehicle. Tell her if she doesn't like it...to sue you. It will never go that far. Just stop giving a **** about what others at work say. I live by this motto...'people can think what they want to think about me....I don't live my life based on what others think.'

Now tell her to give it up.

Now, if you don't do this....then by all means whimp out and dish out hundreds. I say stand up for yourself and have some self convidence. Based on all you said you've done, I don't think your install had ANY thing to do with her problems but I am not a certified mechanic.....or am I.
