Hello everyone. I got a small problem with a set of aluminum polished rims on my car. I was wondering if anyone knew any tips or guides on polishing rims. My rims have started to dull a bit and the usual polish I have been using is shining them as bright anymore. Anyone know of any heavy duty polishes or equipment I could pick up to make my rims look new again. Thanks

Im using a product called Blue Magic. What I did last year was head over to the local Canadian Tire and bought all 5 of there car rim polishes and ran a little test and found that the blue magic worked best for me.

We've got something called Simoniz Rim Cleaner. It does a real good job of cleaning off all the dirt and grime, which gets it ready for whatever polish you want to use. I find using the cleaner first works better than using straight polish.

Flitz metal polish...I used to sell this and it really does work very well.

Cleaning aftermarket rims is such a pain. Especially larger sized ones.

What I have been doing is using Meguiars(SP?) Rims cleaner then rinsing off then washing them with some soap and water to get them completely clean. I tried Flitz, Eagle One, Meguiars among others and I found that the blue magic worked best for me.

Mother's Billet Metal Polish works well for minor polishing and cleaning.

For serious polishing, nothing beats Blue Magic polishing compound (not the liquid stuff). You'll need to put a whole bunch of elbow grease into it but the results are worth it.

I have friends that swear by Autosol too although IMO it doesn't work as well as Blue Magic compound.

BTW make sure that your polished rims aren't clearcoated.

Bryan, any idea where I could pickup that Blue Magic Compound or Autosol?
